The Monte Carlo World Championship, once again sponsored by Merit cigarettes, was won by Lee Genud, USA over Joe Dwek, Great Britain. Semifinalists Phillip Swart, Great Britain and Michel Camhi, France. Sponsor Merit cigarettes once added $10,000 in prize money.
