The Monte Carlo World Championship, once again sponsored by Merit cigarettes, was won by Jacques Michel, Switzerland over Mike Corbett, USA. Semifinalists were Frank Gosenhauser, South Africa and Peter Blachian, Germany. Sponsor Merit cigarettes appears to have dispensed with the added money at this point.
