BG-2024.0549Description
Here's another nice early-board example that may or may not be an AP Games set dating to the early 1940's, based on the inclusion of the 5th printing (September 1940) Walter Richard softback with the AP Games imprint. This was the latest edition of Richard until it was reissued in the 1970s. The set gives every impression being scarcely used, so there is fair reason to think that the book is original to it and the board could be a tray-less Popper set from the 40's. The lever clasp style also looks a bit more more modern than similar ones from the 30's. The doubling cube, interestingly, follows the 1930 numeral scheme and has numerals in a yellow color that matches the points on the board -- but it bears no resemblance to typical "popper" cubes. The frame of the set is thinner than similar sets of the period.Made/Created
