Description

This charming Hollywood portrait shows Mrs. Alan Dinehart (Mozelle Britton) countering her husband's puckish grin with a level gaze. A backgammon table frequently provided an ideal setting for portraying a playful relationship between couples. The board pictured is notable for its 1930-style doubling cube, spring-loaded clasps and leather handle (which was not common at the time). The checkers appear to be the large 'bullseye' style checkers prominent in 1932 examples in the Collection.
