John Henry Kirby, Framed, Houston ChronicleScope and Content
Jesse H Jones was a political and business associate of John Henry Kirby. His first company to him was the south Texas lumber company. In addition to real estate, commercial building and banking, he can structure the new office and plant for the Houston Chronicle in exchange for a half interest in the company. In 1926, Jones became the sole owner of the paper and named himself as publisher. Roosevelt named him chairman of the reconstruction finance Corporation board (made loans and bailed out Banks after the depression) and later as secretary of commerce.
In addition to his philanthropy in Houston, He is well known for his efforts to secure funding for the Houston ship channel.Collection
