Candice Gawne Full Moon Throne 82” x 17” x 19” Chair, paper cast of artist’s face and hands, branches, neon, transformer Gift of Janine Smith Estate, donated in 2021 A tranquil face floats atop branches that seem to grow from a wood chair with a glowing seat. Above the face is a neon swirl that pulses. The surreal scene is united with a faint purple glow. Candice Gawne’s work has been featured in over forty museum and gallery exhibitions worldwide. She is in the permanent collection of the Frederick Weisman Art Foundation, the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, the Corning Museum of Glass, and the Museum of Neon Art, among others. Gawne’s work explores the symbiotic relationship between light and darkness.
