Hot Lunch
1979
Donated by Lili Lakich
A unique piece of Hollywood neon designed by artist Lili Lakich, but never used in the film for which it was intended. In 1979, Lakich was hired through Seiniger Advertising by M.G.M. Studios to create a neon sign and logo for a musical with the working title, Hot Lunch. The film’s name was a reference to the Irene Cara song “Hot Lunch” which was used in the final film. However due diligence discovered the movie title, Hot Lunch, had already been appropriated by a pornographic film which had been released the year prior. Lakich’s neon sign was abandoned by the studio when a name change was confirmed. Another Irene Cara song from the film was chosen to better represent the movie released in 1980: "Fame."
