SEAL BEACH HOTEL
1955
Donated by Mark Clayton
Fabricated by West Coast Neon
Restored by Richard Ankrom and Mark Powers Neon (bending)
The seal with its neon bouncing ball resided over 5th Street and Central Avenue in an otherwise residential area of Seal Beach, CA. In multiple rebranding attempts, the seaside motel changed in name from a motel to a hotel, and then to the
Seal Beach Inn and Gardens. By 1983, the seal was gone from its perch and, six years later, found its way to the Museum of Neon Art.
