2009.4.233Description
Restaurant or dining room at the Walton Hotel, formerly located on the northwest corner of High and Morris Streets in Waynesburg, Greene County, Pennsylvania. The same room can be seen in image # WALT-AN001-0017, which is identified as an event at the Walton Hotel.
Note attached to photograph reads:
"1. Bgr. [Could this be Levi Burgess?]
2. Joe [Could this be Joseph Hall?]
3. Leo
4. Hick [Could this be Edward, George, or Harry Hickey?]
4 Musketeers”
Research submitted by Carole Clarke and Candice Buchanan has contributed to the potential identifications noted here. Census records for 1900, 1910, and/or 1920, as well as World War I draft cards, indicate the Burgess, Hall, and Hickey men worked as waiters, or more specifically as waiters at a hotel. Harry Hickey’s WWI draft card lists him as a hotel waiter employed by the Walton family.
