2011.2.692Description
Believed to be Henry Elbin's first wife, Judith (Fletcher) Elbin - daughter of Philip Fletcher and Mary Sullivan of Flintstone, Allegany County, Maryland.
Handwritten inscription on back of photo reads, "Great Uncle Henry Elbin’s / First Wife / gave aunt Raechel the old / coverlet, about 1870 / Cumberland, Md. / Aunt Jenny - his second wife."
Efforts to date the photo place it in the late 1860s or early 1870s, at which time Henry Elbin was still married to his first wife Judith (Fletcher) Elbin, who lived circa 1807-circa 1876.
David Fletcher, researching the Fletcher-Elbin genealogy, and Susan King, researching the Elbin-Wag(g)oner genealogy, participated in making this identification by providing extensive genealogical research and a photo comparison for this family.
