Description

A handwritten inscription appears to indicate that the subject is Eli Hewitt [1845-1929] - son of Peter Hewitt and Ruth Taylor Fitz Randolph. However, the man in this image looks much older than Eli would be in the 1860s. Additional research or images for comparison are required to confirm or deny the caption. Original, no photographer listed.

Notes

The Esther Ruth Hart Series most likely passed from Miles Leonidas Hart [1868-1950] and his wife, Lulu Hewitt [1878-1962], to their daughter, Esther Ruth Hart [1913-2008], whose friends donated the photographs to the Cornerstone Genealogical Society (144 E. Greene St., PO Box 547; Waynesburg, Pennsylvania 15370) in 2008. SOURCE CITATION: Circa 1860-1870; item no.
