Charcoal enlargement believed to be Eli Grable [1818-1897] - husband of Eleanor Bigler, son of Daniel Grable and his first wife, Susannah Biler/Byler.
The handwritten inscription on the back of the photograph reads, "John Wise Grable's grandad Grable," which would indicate that the image is of Eli's father, Daniel Grable [1795-1851]. However, the image appears to date to the 1870s or 1880s which is too late for Daniel, who died in 1851. The date of the image and the age of the man pictured are a better fit for John Wise Grable's father Eli rather than his grandfather Daniel.
