Provenance Detail
Ely Series - George and Mary (Warrick) Ely CollectionNotes
The George & Mary (Warrick) Ely Collection was passed down through the successive owners of their farmhouse in Whiteley Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania. The home was built by John Hamilton in the 1830s and then purchased by George and Mary (Warrick) Ely in 1840. Their family remained on the land for over a century, until an Ely descendant sold the property to Claire and Evelyn (DeVelbis) Minor. After Mrs. Minor's passing, the property was bought by John and Judi (Walker) Higgins who owned and shared the photographs with the Greene Connections: Greene County, Pennsylvania Archives Project in 2010.
