The Nellie Leo Collection photographs come from the family of Carmen Leo [1886-1963] and his wife, Mary (Grillo) Leo [1884-1957] who immigrated to the United States from Italy, in 1907 and 1911 respectively, and settled in Waynesburg, Greene County, Pennsylvania. In spite of two family home fires over the years, their daughter Nellie Leo gathered the photographs from family and friends and provided them to her nephew and his wife, Jerry and Kathy Mize, who shared the collection with the Greene Connections: Greene County, Pennsylvania Archives Project, between 2004 and 2011.
