Description

Cabinet card of the Brewer and Vance families, probably taken on the wedding day of either Daniel Webster Brewer [1870-1938] and Hannah Jane (Vance) Brewer [1865-1893], 21 August 1892, or George Birch Vance [1870-1928] and Jessie Dell (McFarland) Vance [1868-1935] on 6 October 1892. Both couples sat for portraits around the same time that this group photo was taken (see item # MILB-AN001-0002-0005 and item # MILB-AN001-0002-0006). Brewer photographs throughout the Vance family photo albums indicate a close connection between the families. [Left-Right]: STANDING - Amos Seymour Brewer [1868-1937], Lozann (Vance) Stilwell [1863-1927], *Maggie Brewer, Ruth (Brewer) Vance [1865-1935]; SEATED - Hannah Jane (Vance) Brewer [1865-1893], Daniel Webster Brewer [1870-1938], George Birch Vance [1870-1928], Jessie Dell (McFarland) Vance [1868-1935]. *She may be Margaret Ann (Headlee) Brewer [1874-1940], who married Abram Sterling Brewer on 22 May 1901. However, this image and another of her by herself (see item # MILB-AN001-0002-0001) both pre-date her marriage. The caption may have been added later and reflect her married name, but more research is necessary. Original, professional photograph from Rogers, Wilson Building, Waynesburgh, Pa.
