Robert Watson and Catharine (Anderson) Watson family in front of their home in Holbrook, Center Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania. Pictured [Left-Right]: STANDING - Samuel S. Watson, Smith Watson, Robert Watson, Margaret Watson, Catharine (Anderson) Watson holding Elizabeth (Watson) (Carpenter) Higgins, John Isaac Watson, John Anderson SEATED - George Washington Watson, Anna Frances (Watson) Church. The photograph was taken circa 1886, the year of Elizabeth's birth. Three prints of this image are in the Katherine Jane (Throckmorton) Toothman Collection. Two are original photographs from the era in which the image was made. The third is a 1920s era reproduction. The two originals are faded and damaged. The reproduction loses photographic detail. Another reproduction, from the early 1900s, is included in the Virginia (Watson) Jinkinson Collection. That version best preserves the details of the photograph.

The Watson-Anderson Series photographs were most likely passed from Robert Watson [1847-1942] and his wife, Catharine Anderson [1848-1933] to their daughter Ella May (Watson) Throckmorton [1893-1988] and her husband, Robert Lawrence Throckmorton, Sr. [1889-1964] to their daughter, Katherine Jane (Throckmorton) Toothman who owned and shared the photographs with the Greene Connections: Greene County, Pennsylvania Archives Project in 2006.
