"THE HUT
110th INFANTRY, U.S.A.
CAMP HANDCOCK, GEORGIA
March 16, 1918
Dear Sister Nell, Will write you today as we have 1/2 day off. We are both well, but Edd was unlucky and got in quarantine again for measles.
We are taking up signaling in the S.O.S this week and we are having it real easy.
It is hotter than a flitter down here. The fruit trees are in bloom and it reminds me of late in the spring. From what I hear from the officers I don't believe we will leave for quite a while yet.
I guess on account of the climate in France we will get out complete training on this side.
We did not get back in time to sign for payroll so we won't get any pay until April 15.
I am just $20.00 in the hole after my furlough so if you can see the others and send me that much I can send the most of it back when I get paid in April for I will get two pays then.
I guess I will send you my watch for what I borrowed before. It is a real good one and would cost you about that much if you got one.
We stopped in Washington D.C. and had a grand time. If you ever have a chance you should see this city. Hoping you are all well and I will close. Lovingly Leo.
P.S. If you can get them I would like for you to get me two suits of B.V.D's size 40 and send to me."Collection
