"Following is a letter received by Mr. and Mrs. J.W. McNicholas, of Ned from their son, Private Edward McNicholas, a member of company K, now somewhere in France:
Co. K, 110th Inf.
Am. E. F., France
Dear Papa and Mamma:--
I received your letter yesterday and I certainly was glad to hear that everyone was enjoying life at the best. Leo and I are both well, but do not have time to write very often. We always do the best we can. I suppose you have been very busy with the work. It is pretty hard to get help, too, I suppose. No doubt you have read about the last drive the Germans made. Well, they are on the run now and believe me the Yanks are giving them h---. I think that drive was the beginning of the end and I believe the end is not far away. How is Bill Johnson? Tell him I said hello.
Well, I can't tell you much news because of the censor. Write to us often and we will write when we have an opportunity. Give my love to the others.
Your son,
Pvt. Edward McNicholas."Collection
