Log cabins built by John Hart, born 1756. Three generations of the Hart family lived in these cabins located on the Francis Craig farm, near Ceylon, Cumberland Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania.
Seated on porch: Francis Asbury Hart [1823-1904] - son of Levi Hart.
Handwritten inscription on back of this photograph reads, "M. H. Gallatin / to / Mrs. Miles L. Hart / Rices Landing." Research indicates that "M. H. Gallatin" is Mamie (Hopton) Gallatin, a granddaughter of Neri Hart [1821-1899]. Mamie gave the photograph to her aunt Lulu (Hewitt) Hart, wife of Miles Leonidas Hart. Miles was a son of Neri Hart [1821-1899].
Identification provided by Susan Ratcliffe, 2015. Susan also owns an original set of the three log cabin photographs (item nos. CGSP_AN006_0001_0000A - CGSP_AN006_0001_0000C), which were given to her in 1974, by Neri G. Hart of Carmichaels, Pennsylvania. He wrote on 24 July 1974, that the photographs were "found in [the] attic of an old aunt of mine, Lizzie Craig, daughter of Asbury Hart." This set of images contain the caption data noted in the description above.

The Esther Ruth Hart Series most likely passed from Miles Leonidas Hart [1868-1950] and his wife, Lulu Hewitt [1878-1962], to their daughter, Esther Ruth Hart [1913-2008], whose friends donated the photographs to the Cornerstone Genealogical Society (144 E. Greene St., PO Box 547; Waynesburg, Pennsylvania 15370) in 2008.
