The Anna Mary (Ritchie) Armstrong Series includes items from multiple generations and family members. Notable among the Greene County, Pennsylvania connections are those items that were likely passed down through the descendants of James McConnell [1784-1840] and his wife, Elizabeth (Luckey) McConnell [1786-1863]. Their daughter, Mary Jane (McConnell) (Andrew) Kirkland [1809-1863], was the wife of William Andrew [1801-1850], and the mother of Philinda (Andrew) Ritchie [1847-1919]. Philinda was a Waynesburg College graduate, class of 1869, and the wife of Waynesburg & Washington Railroad President, Joseph Gwynne Ritchie [1834-1891]. Their daughter, Anna Mary (Ritchie) Armstrong [1878-1955], is likely to have been the central figure in accumulating and preserving the family collection, which then passed to her daughter, Elizabeth (Armstrong) Meredith [1906-1990]. The series was donated by Suzanne Floyd in 2022, to the Cornerstone Genealogical Society (144 E. Greene St., PO Box 547; Waynesburg, Pennsylvania 15370). Researched and digitized for the Greene Connections: Greene County, Pennsylvania Archives Project, 2022.
