High Street (looking west from near Cumberland Street) in Waynesburg, Greene County, Pennsylvania.
On the left, the first two frame houses were in place by the Civil War, though they likely date to much earlier. The one closest to Wood Street (formerly Whiskey Alley) sits on what was known as the Potters Lot, where bricks for the first buildings on High Street were manufactured.
The tall Ganiear Building was constructed in three sections beginning in the 1890s.
Next door, the western section of the Ganiear House was built during a period around 1808-1814; the eastern half was added around 1847.
The next frame house was James Andrew Jackson Buchanan's in-town home and later belonged to his daughter's family, Daniel Spindler Walton and Mollie (Buchanan) Walton.
