Context

Chicago artist Deborah Boardman’s subject matter ranges from her studio interiors, sacred architecture, and history to portraits of friends and family, ethereal memories, and mortality. Primarily a painter, Boardman’s diaphanous color palette and paint handling particularly true in her later works have been described as “what life looks like in that gracious limbo between life and death.” But, in addition to the material aspects, the generosity in her collaborations with others, her friendships and spiritual curiosities are also somehow conveyed in her physical works.
