Context

Jenny Kendler’s Amur Leopard was created as part of “The Endangered Species Print Project,” a collaborative project led by Kendler and Molly Schafer from 2009–18 in an effort to raise awareness in support of conserving critically endangered species. The prints were produced in edition sizes that reflected the number of living animals or plants of a particular species at the time of creation. Considered one of the rarest big cats in the world, there were only forty-five Amur leopards in 2013. Today, the total population is estimated to be closer to 120.
