Context

Untitled is taken from the artist’s sketchbooks, which always accompany Greenbaum who says she draws constantly. Compared to doodles or scribbles, Greenbaum resists these terms, and uses the opportunity afforded by drawing to explore certain figures and forms that will later be “monumentalized” in paint. Whereas painting is an intensely physical activity for Greenbaum, the works on paper track the movement of the hand, its spontaneous movements and gestures as it traces and tracks the surface.
