Description

Mask originates from Cameroon, depicts the features of the native bush cow. In the cameroon grasslands there are over 70 mask societies, each ones masks belonging to the different extended families. In the native religion of the tribes, worship and obedience to ancestors is stressed. These masks were said to be created by the ancestors for the protection and benefit of men. The familes wear these masks during celebrations to commemorate the death of their family members.
