Description

Mary Magdalene Fontaine, Mary Frances Lanel, Theresa Magdalene Fantou, and Jean Gerard were Daughters of Charity who were martyred during the French Revolution at Cambrai on June 26, 1794. They were beatified by Pope Pius XI on June 13, 1920. This painting hung in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome during the beatification ceremony.
