This poster is designed by one of the artists of the formative period of the Polish School of Posters, Roslaw Szaybo, is associated with some of the most well-known, such as Henryk Tomaszewski and Wojciech Fangor. Szaybo became an award-winning artist for his poster designs while still a student at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts. One of the signatures of Szaybo’s poster designs is his experimentation with inclusion of photographic elements and this poster is an example of this particular style. This poster was created as promotional material for Poland’s Jazz Jamboree, which is one of Europe’s oldest and largest jazz festivals that began annually in 1958.Acquisition
