Barrow is deeply committed to an experimental photography practice, evidence of his connection to the Industry of Design and New Bauhaus photographers of IIT. However, Barrow pushed his experimentations further than his predecessors.
As noted by the Museum of Contemporary Photography’s records, Barrow “investigated concepts of representation, reproduction, material culture, and language using different tactics in successive bodies of work to disrupt the image, often physically modifying his negatives or prints, often adding spray paint, builders caulk, and directly tearing or manipulating the physical prints themselves.”Acquisition
