Government Camp-Summit Area of Mt. Hood (5 photos).
Rowe Post Office was established 23 Feb 1909. On 27 Feb 1917 it was renamed Zigzag, which was renamed to Rhododendron on 26 Jan 1920.
A) Old Summit House Campground. 1886.
B) Summit House on Barlow Road (1880s).
C) Perry Vickers Summit House (1860s).
D) Swim Resort and Hot Springs, East of Government Camp. Operated by Boyd Summers. (1925-1931)
E) Calverley's in early Thirties (Photo by George Calverley (1930s). Note the small trees at Summit at that time. The gas pump later became a gas station. The house was later moved to left and is the building now operated by the West family. The old water fountain is gone, but one like it still stands on the east end of the Sahalie Falls Bridge.
