Portland State University Department of Anthropology Field School - Sauvie Island Dr. Elizabeth H. Harmon (1965-2009), bottom right. While an anthropology student at Portland State University, Lizzie organized the Clackamas County Historical Society's lithics collection. After graduating from PSU, Lizzie would spend several years traveling the world as a field archaeologist before earning her Ph.D. from Arizona State University. A prominent paleoanthropologist, Lizzie led many field expeditions to the Rift Valley in Ethiopia. Lizzie was a professor in the Department of Anthropology at Hunter College-CUNY and a contributor to the New York Consortium in Evolutionary Primatology before she was taken prematurely. ❤
