Description

Barlow Town Fountain, erected in 1904. --- Written in 1955: More than 30 years ago the "Barlow Bird Bath" was built by Miss Mary Barlow as a memorial to her father, William (son of Samuel K. Barlow -builder of the Barlow Trail around Oregon's Mt. Hood) and his wife, Martha. There are two dates on the fountain, 1901 and 1904, which are the years in which Miss Barlow's parents died. The village of Barlow, which was named for the builder of the Barlow trail, is located on Highway 99E, about 15 miles south of Oregon City and mid-way between Salem and Portland, Oregon. Turning west across the Southern Pacific railroad tracks in Barlow, motorists take the graveled road to the left and drive two blocks to the old fountain. M-0725.004846
