Mountain View Improvement Club Float - 4th of July
Judge G.E. Hayes House, 1403 7th Street across from Eastham School. Italianate (verify - maybe vernacular style with Queen Anne details?) Style Architecture. The site was later the location of the Four Square Church. (As of 2024 the front retaining wall and steps are still visible but building is gone. dlking 2/28/24)
Identification of people is as follows (written on the back of the photo):
W.G. Hall, councilman under Grant Dimick, John Frances, Frank Bullard other side of horses, Supt. J.A. Calvin , Marion Darling, John Lewellen and daughter May Faricloth and Mrs. J.A. Calvin, Mrs. G.F. Everhart (husband was a mayor of Oregon City), George Yerley has team, children (Mr. Yerley's) Adeline and Frances Curan.
The painting on the float was painted by Ida May Garmire Shannon, and was presented to the Mountain View Fireman. Later they gave the painting to the Oregon City Firemen.
