Eisenhower's bedroom and suite (see image P-3422, P-3423, P-3424) at the Colorado State Museum. Exhibit is now on the eighth floor of Building 500 at Colorado University, formerly the Fitzsimons Army Hospital. Mamie Doud Eisenhower, whose dress is in the image, was from Denver, Colorado. Mamie and Ike were wed at her family home in 1916. They often vacationed in Colorado. In 1955, Eisenhower suffered a massive heart attack and was taken to Fitzsimons Army hospital. The recovery was long, however, while in Colorado Eisenhower continued to conduct presidential business from the Aurora location, until he was well enough to return to Washington D.C. The suite contained his room (P-3424), the nurses room (P-3422), and a writing room (P-3423). (JAH 08/04/2022)
