Oregon Pony, first steam locomotive in Northwest. August, 1950. Newspaper clipping on back reads: Oregon's Pony takes ride- First locomotive built on Pacific Coast left its Union station home Friday to take part in Vancouver Cenaqua parade today. Owned by Oregon Historical Society, Oregon Pony weighs 9700 pounds and hasn't been off its pedestal for years. Engine was insured for $50,000 by society before it was loaded on truck for parade.
