P-810Description
The Charman House, 512 Main Street.
"Oregon Landmarks" by the DAR 1957. Author Walter May states the house was built in 1847 by Mr. Bridges. Maj. Charman purchased the house in 1855. The lumber came around Cape Horn. The house was a public inn for a short time. Later became the location of the Commercial Bank. The bank has been demolished and is now a small parking lot. The renumbering of the four to eight-bay building later assigned 512 to the second storefront from the left (JAH 10/2022). See P-824 for map of home locationMade/Created
