General Notes

Note

similar to 4887 Date attributed per matching piece at PMA (1928-95-191). Probably manufactured b the Boston and Sandwich Glass Company (CRH). Label: Pressed and Cut Glass. Brilliant cut glass was a style made popular during the Centennial Exposition of 1876 in Philadelphia. Cut glass patterns of the brilliant period (1876-World War 1) were generally elaborate, with major motifs accompanied by several minor motifs. These motifs, deeply cut into a glass bank and then hand-polished, gave brilliant glass its characteristic sparkling effect. Popular design elements include cane, pineapple, rosette, crosshatch, star and hobstar motifs. (J. DeGroff)
