Hacksaw Power Starrett

Description

Around 1900 Starrett started in a small way to manufacture hacksaw blades only, the teeth were punched in single blades whereas later were milled in large multiples. At the time it was felt to hold it's position the company had to produce a machine on which Starrett blades could be used. L. S. Starrett and John W. Boyton (Chief Engineer of the Union Twist Drill Co.) Developed this machine. Probablly the most ingenious phase of this machine is the lift for the return stroke. Made at the Athol Machine & Foundry Co. for the Starrett Co. Patented Jan. 7, 1919, Pat. # 1,290,497. Withdrawn fro the market about 1925.
