This photograph collection of 53 photographs taken by William Boone Studios, East Hampton documents the disrepair and damage of the Montauk Manor at a time when it was abandoned after serving as GI barracks during World War II. The photographs depicting the common spaces, private rooms, servants' quarters, bathrooms, and grounds, show water damage, mold, peeling paint, and ripped carpets. The photographs are dated 1943 to 1945 and include hand numbering and annotations of damage.Archive Details
