Collection of five scrapbooks containing newspaper clippings following the political career of Perry B. Duryea, Sr. and stories pertaining to Montauk during the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s. Perry B. Duryea, Sr. (1891–1952) ran a wholesale seafood business in Montauk, NY. In 1941, he was elected to the New York State Senate, he was re-elected in 1942 and 1944, and remained in the State Senate until 1945. In 1945 he worked as Conservation Commissioner. He was an alternate delegate to the 1952 Republican National Convention. The articles in the scrapbooks date from 1931 to 1952 and cover current events relating to Perry B. Duryea's political career, local town and county politics, conservation, hunting, fishing, and outdoorsmanship.Archive Details
