Historical Note

Note

Diane and Rusty Leave purchased Deep Hollow Ranch in 1971, from Ms. Leaver’s father, Frank Dickinson. Diane Leaver is a fifth-generation cattle rancher. Together the couple preserved the land livestock traditions of America’s oldest cattle ranch including buying and selling cattle, training horses and dogs, operating a riding stable, and producing demonstrations for schoolchildren and tourists. The Leavers operated the ranch with their children Retta and Gardner. They sold the ranch, after owning it for 40 years, in 2011.
