A black and white photo of Clifford Doughty and his father, John Doughty III of Topsham, with the telephone teletype (TTY) machine John Doughty received several days before Christmas, was published in The Times Record in Brunswick, Maine on 12/26/1975.
Until the TTY machine came, Clifford Doughty helped his father, who had been deaf and unable to speak since birth, translate phone calls. He was the first person in the Bath-Brunswick area to have a TTY machine.Collection
