Henry Merritt, b. Scituate, Mass. 1751, d. G.I. April 7, 1827, aged 76 years. Married Marcy Snow, b. 1760, d. Nov. 28, 1877, daughter of Deacon Isaac Snow, buried Cranberry Horn.
2.Stephen Merritt, b. G.I. Dec 22, 1779 d. June 15, 1835. Master builder and farmer; m Joanna Purinton b. Harpswell 1790 d. Topsham Dec. 27, 1868 dau Stephen Purinton, and Mary Merrill. They had many children. Some went to Oakland, Calif..
Schooner Merritt built in 1821, 105 tons. Capt. Stephen Merritt also build three other vessels back to 1810.
3. Samuel Merritt, M.D. 1843; b. 30 Mar 1822 in Harpswell. Physician in Plymouth, Mass, San francisco; resident of Oakland, Cal. Mayor of Oakland. Merritt Park, Calif is named for him. Died 17 Aug. 1890.
