Joseph Stetson was born in Minot 30 May 1822/23 and attended the Lewiston Falls Academy as a boy. He learned the mason's trade in Boston and was a brick mason in Brunswick until retiring at age 75. He became the oldest man in Brunswick, Maine for which he received the Boston Post Cane in Nov 1913. He was a Deacon of Berean Baptist Church and an active member of the United Lodge of Masons. He was a book collector and for a time served on the Brunswick school committee. On 1 Feb 1845 in Roxbury, MA, he married Maria E. Brown of Brunswick. He died 10 Mar 1914 and was survived by his wife, daughter Annabel and son Clarence of Newton, MA, three grandsons, two granddaughters and five great grandchildren. Photo not dated.
