Written on the back by Miriam Stover Thomas is the following: "Robert went as seaman on the sloop, Active, with his neighbor, Master Robert Given. They were wrecked at sea off Cape Ann and Capt. ? refused them aid and was tarred and feathered by the women of Marblehead."Collection
