Description

A sepia toned photo of a float from the 150th Anniversary of Brunswick parade. This is the J. Furbish float (identified by a sign on the front) and a mustached man sits on the far side of the wagon. Other signs on the float read in part: "1835-Old Store, 1889- New [ill.]" and "Famous Oil [ill.]." Judging from the large white Federal style home behind the float on the right, this photo may have been taken on Federal Street. Dated 06/13/188 From the Brunswick Telegraph 1889. John Furbish contributed a float bearing an excellent exhibit of stoves. An old open fireplace of A.D. 1835 with an old baker's oven stood beside a pioneer stove of 1845. A modern rage sat in haughty pride beside these relics while the latest improved kerosene oil and gasoline stove occupied the front place as aristocracy of the heater community. Float is in front of 74 Federal Street.
