Notes

Children’s art has an imaginative quality that people often lose throughout their teen years if it’s not consistently channeled into work. The bright colors help illuminate a childlike hope for the future, which is felt throughout the composition of this crayon drawing, done by a student at Hawthorne Elementary School, Brunswick, ME. The drawing was completed as part of a time capsule project depicting what the world would look like in just twenty years. Looking at the future as depicted by children not only can breathe optimism into even the most nihilistic of people but shows that art is one of the ways to fight against the dulling of hope, regardless of the age of the creator.
