Labor of Love: Creating Art and CommunityNotes
Miss Manks served as one of the first art teachers at Coffin School in Brunswick, ME. She is pictured instructing in her classroom, featuring a large pasted art piece filled with various animals and nature scenes designed by the students. Around her, the children are all seated at desks holding paintbrushes above their pieces of paper. Creating a healthy and happy atmosphere for students to explore their creativity and create art together builds a sense of camaraderie and allows them to not only connect with each other, but connect deeper to themselves.
