Labor of Love: Creating Art and CommunityNotes
Brunswick Junior High School, Brunswick, ME has a large natural area behind the school, with trees and streams providing a barrier between the school and the adjacent neighborhood on Peary Drive. This area is used for education purposes as well as recreation, whether looking at water striders in the streams for science class or sketching landscapes for art class like this photograph. Mary Ganske’s art students John Adams, Bruce Smalling, and Barry Michaud, are seen with pens and pads on their laps, focusing on capturing the scenery before them.
