Tested stain lifting gels on textile: Tergitol, Vulpex, Triton-X. Placed gel on stain and cover with silicone release paper and weighted plex cubes. Add label for type of gel as 4% agorose with 1% surfactant. Cyclomethicone D4 on spots and tidelines. Used 5.5 pH adjusted distilled H2O, adding one each to cup macro-emulsions of surfactants (A, B, C)
Spot 1: A alone: partially cleaned timeline, whitened fabric too much. Wet again with cyclomethicone (100% volatile, allows wetting the surface. Alternate cleaning - allow to dry). A w/ Orvis paste, roll on spot with small sponge. Roll spot with pH 5.5 H2O. Result: cleaned tideline, lightened spot, lightened fabric too much. Will have to tea dye cloth.
Spot 2: First layer cyclomethicone. Then 30 mL pH 5.5 H2O, mixed in 1 tsp Orvis paste and rinse with H2O. Result: cleaned tideline; lightened fabric too much with spot unchanged. Spot seems to be adhesive. Tried to remove with acetone on suction platen: cyclomethicone, acetone, pH H2O.
Spot 3: Cyclomethicone on platen, left to dry. 5.5 pH H2O blotted on. Result: lightened stain, caused tideline, didn’t lighten fabric.Acute Treatment

Using previously made gels, 6% agarose gel within 2% solution of Triton X. Gels were cut out to fit directly over stains, weighted for one hour and then left to dry out. All the 6% gels dried out and removed from textile. Will use 5.5% gel on the textile and weight for 1 hour. Gels removed from textile and 5% gel with 2% triton-x made thicker to sit on textile longer. Results: Tide lines apparent after using 5% gel with 2% triton-x left to dry over the weekend. 5.75% gel with 2% Triton X tested to reduce darkened tidelines. Then added 1% tergitol and place half a day. Blotter paper and Pellon used as sandwich between textile and weights to reduce tidelines. Tested one section using cyclomethicone on tidelines with no change. Tidelines treated using 1:1 distilled water, isopropyl with 2g Chloromine T, 0.5g bleaching gel and 1g Orvus paste applied via brush on suction platen.
Order of application:
1. Cyclomethicone
2. Cleaning solution
3. 90% isopropyl alcohol
4. CyclomethiconeAcute Treatment

Pressed out undulations and wrinkles, using three layers of blue board covered with four layers of tissue. Pressed using tacking iron or heat spatula in smaller areas, around not directly on embroidery. Slightly dampened small piece of Pellon by spraying with distilled water. Saturated and squeezed out excess. Use a layer of tissue above and below Pellon. Removed damp Pellon after pressing one time to avoid over-wetting textile. Continued pressing with tissue. Used smallsponge brush to dampen small areas between embroidery.Acute Treatment

Ironed textile, sewed loose leaf back into place, and cut fabric for lining (12" longer on width, 13" longer on height). Straight stitched on machine around edges. Pressed smooth. Constructed foam support to stretch taught lining using ethafoam blocks and bamboo skewers. Pinned lining to foam support. Pinned bottom an top edge and stitched backward looping 1/4" apart stitches. Repeated on sides.Acute Treatment
