Description

"The Germany Edition of The Stars and Stripes was the first free newspaper with large circulation to be published in Germany since Hitler took the country over. The story of the men who gathered and wrote and edited the news; of the men who distributed the finished papers, and of the men who had the job of worrying about the whole affair is of interest to the outsider, too. The Germany Edition carried the news to the news-starved troops and it found its way, deviously, into the German home. Some day, some historian may evaluate its place in the history of World War II; right now, we can just write about it."
